DDYC attends each confirmation service,
and provides a chocolate fountain, popcorn, ‘goody bags’ and a certificate for each candidate.

Bishop’s confirmation cards are also available free from our office. Please contact Tim if you would like more information.

Confirmations happen in the diocese for those people who have been baptised and now want to ‘confirm’ their faith in the church. It is a very important time for each person involved and we want to help and support this process as much as we can.

A confirmation handbook is available to parishes to help with confirmation preparation as well as advice and other resources for delivering a course. DDYC can also work with you to help you deliver a course and explore partnerships with other parishes for confirmations.

Saturday Night Live

Saturday Night Live is a youth event in the diocese that aims to bring young people together for food, fun and fellowship.

It is open to all young people and takes place in different venues across the diocese every two months.

A typical night will involve opening free time, games and food followed by worship, discussion groups and a main talk.

New groups are always welcome to attend and if you would like more information contact Tim.

SERVE is a resource for young people aged 15 - 18, designed to encourage and develop their unique leadership qualities while also encouraging them to build firm foundations of faith.

Central to the course is the idea of servant leadership, of using who we are and the gifts that God has given us to serve Him and people recognising that leadership takes many forms. There are four elements included in each session designed to build a sense of community and support, engagement with God and a deeper knowledge of who we are as people and leaders.

1.Communal Meal: Served at the start of each session
2.Spiritual Discipline: Time is given after the meal to practice an element of the disciplines.
3.Book Review: Participants will be expected to read a chapter of the selected book prior to each session, at which a young person will lead a discussion on the chapter.
4.Teaching and Discussion: This element allows the participants to explore spiritual, practical and personal aspects of Christian leadership through discussion and activities.

Partnership & Advice

The vast majority of the ministry with young peple needs to, and does, happen where it matters –in local parish contexts. Our role is to offer what partnership we can in order to support and encourage your work.

If you need any of our staff to come and visit, offer advice, speak at services or assist in programmes then, time permitting, we will be happy to do so.

Please contact any of the staff here.
