The time is nigh!
Indeed, it is nearly upon us, that which we have all been waiting for, Confirmation Youth Weekend 2015!
When you have finished cheering and hugging those around you in delight, read on!
Returning again from the 13th to the15th of March 2015 at Castlewellan Castle, the weekend once again promises to be packed full of fun, games, fellowship, discussion and adventure.
For those of you not doing confirmation this year, worry not, this weekend is not only for those getting confirmed, but is open to all young people who want to grow and deepen their faith . . . and all for the subsidised cost of just £49! This weekend just keeps getting better!
As always the Confirmation Youth Weekend is designed to compliment your Confirmation preparation and this year it will go alongside the theme the Bishop will be using in the Confirmation Services –‘New Life in Christ’ from 2 Corinthians 5:17. However, because it explores basic faith and discipleship it is suitable for any of your young people who are in secondary school, and it is open to all young people even if your parish is not planning a Confirmation this year.
Our main speaker this year will be Tim Burns who is the new Diocesan Youth Development Officer. He will be talking on this year’s confirmation theme of ‘New Life’ over 3 sessions:
Why Jesus matters
Exploring what it means to give our lives to Christ (also within the context of Confirmation promises) and how that is a life changing event personally, and for those around us.
What is prayer? And why bother? Exploring at the importance of prayer for a Christian and what a healthy prayer life might look like.
A dusty old book, or the Word of God, that is alive and relevant to us today.? Exploring what the bible is and how to read it.
The castle has proved to be a great hit with groups and we will have the usual large team of leaders there to work with your young people and support your own leader(s). We have also got some great activities for young people such as laser skirmishing, climbing wall, archery and laser clay pigeon shooting.
Places are limited and will be given on a first-come basis, so book early to avoid disappointment.
We can reserve places over the phone or e-mail as long as the numbers are as accurate as possible!
