An Essential day of training for youth and children leaders was a raging success Featured

The popular Essentials training day took place on Saturday 20th September at St. Brigid’s Glengormley with a fantastic crowd of participants from Down and Dromore and Connor Dioceses. The day was hosted by CIYD (Church of Ireland Youth Department) in conjunction with Down and Dromore and Connor dioceses.

There was a full day’s training on offer beginning with teaching from the keynote speaker Rick Hill. Rick is the Youth Director at Carnmoney Church and has previously worked for Scripture Union N.I. as Secondary Schools Project Worker.

Participants then chose 3 out of the 5 available seminars which were: “Youth group essentials”, “Sunday school essentials”, “Delivering talks to children and young people”, “Growth in youth ministry” and “Working with children with special needs”.

There was a fantastic lunch and lots of tea and coffee breaks as well as a free resource pack and information to take away from all the seminars.

It was a very useful and encouraging day for all Children and Youth Leaders and the feedback has been very encouraging and overwhelming with when can we do this again?

"so many ideas, tips and inspiration"

"Brilliant I loved the tips and practical ideas"

"A really informative day"

"The whole event was very well organised and run and gave me confidence to either come along again and bring others with me"

So if you missed it this year, why not come along next year and find out what it’s all about! * We are hoping to bring the day earlier and have an Essentials day in June 2015 . . . so keep an eye out for that:)
