Partnership & Advice

The vast majority of the ministry with children needs to, and does, happen where it matters –in local parish contexts.

Our role is to offer what partnership we can in order to support and encourage your work.

If you need any of our staff to come and visit, offer advice, speak at services or assist in programmes then, time permitting, we will be happy to do so. Please contact any of the DDYC staff.

JAM Summer Camps

The J.A.M (Jesus and Me) Summer Camps are a newer addition to the popular Adventure Camps for young people at the diocesan residential centre in Kilbroney, Rostrevor. They are for children going into P.6, P.7 and Y.8 and are fun filled and non-stop for 3 days!

Each camp will look at a key Biblical discipleship theme in both large and small groups and this will be complemented with quiet-times, worship and prayer and lots of outdoor fun including hunt the leader, nightline, campfire, team challenges, messy games and inflatable fun.

The camps usually have around 20 leaders and so we don’t expect leaders to come from churches –in fact we have many children come on their own and are set-up to ensure that children get involved and make friends quickly.

Cost is £65 all-inclusive but financial help is also available to help families that cannot afford this.

For more information please see the summer camps section or contact Andrew Brannigan or Julie Currie.

Sunday School Curriculum

The JIGSAW curriculum for Sunday Schools is an exciting new resource that aims to support leaders to grow their children’s faith in Sunday Schools through the key areas of teaching, prayer and memory verses. Jigsaw is especially designed for a parish context containing exciting new features such as the provision of related Family Service talks and a tailor-made programme ensuring families carry on learning after Sunday school is over.

Sunday School leaders using the programme will also be able to get new ideas and resources from the dedicated Facebook and Pinterest pages (search ‘JigsawDDYC’).

If you would like to use Jigsaw for your children’s ministry please contact Julie and she will be happy to come out and meet with you and your leaders.

Praise Party

The Praise Party is an annual get-together of usually around 400 children and leaders from across the diocese for worship, learning and fun. It is very popular and manages to squeeze in prayers, puppets, fitness, crafts, snacks, competition and singing into one afternoon together! It takes place in May every year and is a great opportunity for a day out for your children.

The cost is free but it is important to register that your church is going.

Holiday Bible CLubs

Holiday Bible Clubs are a great way for churches to make contact with children and their families –especially for families that might not have much regular contact with the church. However they can seem very hard to organise and many volunteer leaders lack the resources and training to undertake one with confidence.

If you would like some advice and help on running a holiday bible club then we can provide you with the resources, training and even volunteers to help you do this.

Training for a holiday bible club can take place over 1 or 2 evenings and we have 5 different resource packs available (3 for the summer and 2 for Easter) that have all the programmes, talks, ideas and even advertising that you would need.

Please contact Julie for more information.
